FIELD: automotive industry; disk brakes. SUBSTANCE: proposed piston has outer cylindrical wall 1 provided with groove 2. Inner space of piston is formed by combination of several surfaces: cylindrical surface 3 adjoining end face 4 and overlapping level of groove 2 along piston axial line, and cylindrical surface 5 adjoining bottom 6. Cylindrical surfaces 3 and 5 differ in diameter: diameter of surface 3 adjoining open end face is less than diameter of cylindrical surface 5 adjoining the bottom. Relationship of diameters of surfaces should provide thickness (a) thickness (a) of piston wall at level of groove 1 at which strength in this area should be not less than strength in area at level of second cylindrical surface with wall thickness (b) and sufficient contact strength of wall thickness (c) at end face level. Increase in thickness of walls of piston part where groove is made makes it possible to select size (a) at which this area will be stable to working axial loads without increasing size (b) over value providing stability to working axial loads on other parts of piston walls. Their connection is provided by conical surface 7 with rounded-off edges smoothly changing into cylindrical surfaces 3 and 5 of pistons. EFFECT: increased strength. 5 cl, 3 dwg
