FIELD: ice engineering; conveying goods over water areas free from currents under ice. SUBSTANCE: ice supports in the form of enclosed water piles are frozen under ice cover. To this end rows of through holes equally spaced apart are drilled in ice along and crosswise of crossing. Pipes with blind bottom ends are vertically introduced in holes until they rest upon water reservoir bottom. Upper ends of pipes protrude above ice cover. Pipes in rows are spaced apart through distances sufficient to allow ice layers formed on pipe surfaces due to cold atmospheric air (t <0 C) to freeze together.
