FIELD: power engineering; short-time prediction of ice formation and control of overhead-line deicing installation. SUBSTANCE: method depends on indirect measurements of linear temperature expansion of conductor in span between dead-end and suspension insulator strings. Force sensors suspended between pole arm and insulator string are used to measure pulling force of dead-end and suspension insulator strings, respectively. Measurement data obtained are used in shaping signal proportional to linear temperature expansion of conductor by means of double-input nonlinear transducer; this signal is compensated for to zero by adding it to signal arriving from independent source at first known temperature of conductor. Gain factor of output amplifier connected to secondary measurement instrument is controlled at second known temperature of conductor so as to adjust mentioned instrument reading to deviation of second known temperature from first one. After that secondary instrument readings are used as conductor temperature. EFFECT: provision for eliminating impact of ice and wind suffered by conductor on temperature measurement results. 3 cl, 4 dwg
