FIELD: power engineering; real-time remote detection of ice.
SUBSTANCE: proposed method that makes it possible to detect ice, snow, and frost, and their mixtures on phase conductor or ground wire of entire anchor span or any intermediate span in monitoring overhead power transmission lines for thawing them in due time includes simultaneous measurements of stress in conductor dead-end strings at start and end of anchor span and stress in both strings of Λ-shaped suspension of intermediate-span central conductor; calculation of weight bearing on Λ-shaped suspension by stress on its strings; comparison of stresses in pairs of dead-end strings and in Λ-shaped suspension strings of conductor; if these stresses are unequal in at least one pair, final decision is taken on presence of deposits on conductor; if these stresses are equal for each pair, calculated weight bearings, including total mass of insulators and intermediate-span central conductor Λ-shaped suspension fastenings, are compared before taking final decision; if calculated weight bearing exceeds this total weight, decision is taken that conductor bears deposit load and if it equals this total weight, decision is taken on absence of deposits on anchor-span conductor. Device implementing this method has three remote-transmission units, two force-measuring transducers, each being suspended between supporting-structure crossarm and respective intermediate-span insulator string, two dead-end string stress sensors, each being installed at start and end of anchor span, respectively, between insulator string and anchor support body, function generator, two adders, three threshold shapers, three threshold units, and OR gate.
EFFECT: enhanced measurement accuracy in detecting deposits on conductor of entire anchor span or any intermediate span.
