FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: method involves placing a patient on X-ray apparatus desk in dorsal position. Femur is set exactly at 90 deg with 15-deg outward deflection. Shin is bent in 90-deg position. X-ray cassette is placed under the femoral condyles and Kirschner wire is laid over the cassette at the level of supracondyle zone in perpendicular to longitudinal femur axis. Another one is placed under the hip joint with Kirschner wire laid over the cassette bringing it close to the hip joint to direct it exactly parallel to the Kirschner wire placed over the cassette lying in the femoral condyles area. X-ray tube is set at the level of the hip joint along the median line of the body to make X-ray picture of the hip joint in the anteroposterior position with the X-ray tube having 15 deg deviation from the median line of the body at an angle of 15 deg outward. The X-ray tube is set below the knee joint without changing the leg position. Knee joint X-ray picture is taken so that the X-ray tube is directed in parallel to the femur axis and posterior surface of the femoral condyles. Both X-ray pictures are superimposed so that the wire images exactly coincide. Transcondylar line is drawn through the femoral condyles. One more line is drawn through the center of the femur neck to show the longitudinal femur neck axis. True femur neck and head anteversion angle is measured as one built by the intersecting lines.
