FIELD: electric arc welding, namely circuits and apparatuses for electric arc welding by current and voltage pulses, possibly continuous control of arc gap and dimensions of bridge at gas-shield welding with transfer of electrode metal during short circuiting. SUBSTANCE: short circuit sensor includes limiting circuit and threshold members. Limiting circuit includes resistor and Zener diode. Two light-emitting diodes of photothyristor are connected in parallel and mutually opposite with Zener diode. Between Zener diode and light- emitting diodes of photothyristor electric circuit has at one side capacitor connected in series and at other side - two connected in series mutually opposite Zener diodes. EFFECT: enhanced operational reliability, improved noise stability in condition of high electric fields, satisfied quick action, simplified design of sensor. 2 dwg
