FIELD: chemical industry more particularly use of fireproof liquid on objects of higher fire hazard e.g. in systems of regulation and lubrication of steam turbines of electric stations. SUBSTANCE: fireproof liquid is prepared by etherification of phosphorus with mixture of synthetic 3,5-xylenol and phenol. Etherification is carried out under interphase conditions during contact of liquid organic and aqueous alkali phases in two steps, wherein reaction mixture is successively heated to 50-60 C and cooled to 20-25; in first step 50-60 % of total weight of phenols are used with 80-100% content of 3,5-xylenol in mixture, ratios of original phenols being as follows (mole %): 3,5-xylenol, 60-80 and phenol, 40-20.
