FIELD: construction engineering; fabrication of glass blocks for glazing windows of industrial and residential buildings. SUBSTANCE: glass block has, at least, two sheets of window glass joined over perimeter to form enclosed volume, spacing members with top and bottom bases that function to set desired distance between window glass sheets. Spacing members are made of material whose thermal conductivity is lower than or equal to that of window glass. Top and bottom bases of spacing members are joined to respective surfaces of window glass through high-temperature sealing compound. Coefficient of thermal linear expansion of window glass is found from equation 0,7 ≤ Kgl/Ksm≤ 1,43, where Kgl is coefficient of thermal linear expansion of window glass, Ksm is coefficient of thermal linear expansion of spacing member material. EFFECT: enhanced heat transfer coefficient; extended service life; improved stability to uneven effect of sun rays. 2 cl, 2 dwg, 3 ex
