FIELD: power conversion engineering; ac-to-dc power conversion. SUBSTANCE: rectifier unit has inverter modules whose ac leads are connected to one of three-phase valveside windings of converter transformed and dc leads, to load of six-phase rectifier bridges; each valve side of the latter is made in the form of series-connected diode group placed on magnetic core of saturable-reactor running winding; control and running windings of saturable reactor placed on same magnetic core are connected in series with respective windings of other saturable reactors and, respectively, to dc control and bias voltage sources; running, control, and bias windings of saturable reactors in antiphase valve sides of each of six-phase rectifier bridges are placed on separate magnetic cores arranged so that all these windings related to similar antiphase valve sides of all the six-phase rectifier bridges are connected to valveside windings of converter transformer using same circuit arrangement and placed on common magnetic core. Saturable reactors may be mounted in converter transformer tank, in rectifier bridge cubicles, or may be made as stand-alone apparatuses. Proposed rectifier units may be used as power supplies of electroplating and electrothermal equipment, electrified transport, and the like.
