FIELD: metallurgy, particularly, manufacture of articles from monocrystalline metals and their alloys; applicable in power engineering, radio engineering and radioelectronics. SUBSTANCE: method includes placement of polycrystalline article into neutral atmosphere between current leads, heating of article by passing of pulse unipolar current up to completion of recrystallization process over article length. In so doing, one of current leads is connected to article end through spring-loaded discharger electrode ensuring temperature gradient in contact zone of at least 100 C/cm with current density of 103 - 5·104 A/sq.cm, process conduction at temperature of 0.3-0.7 of melting temperature of article material.
