DEVICE FOR BRINGING SORBENT UNDER ICE COVER OF WATER SURFACE Russian patent published in 2001 - IPC

FIELD: environmental protection; elimination of spills of oil and oil products under ice cover of seas and inland waters. SUBSTANCE: proposed device has reservoir submerged in water under ice cover and connected with float and filled up sorbent aggregated from separate elements, and cable hanger of reservoir. The latter is made in form of tube vertical in operating position with internal stop near lower end. It is provided with rod arranged lengthwise inside tube and furnished with piston in upper part. On lower end heavy head-sprayer is mounted. Head-sprayer has downwards sharpened end projecting beyond the limits of lower end of tube and connected with the latter by means of pins breakable at impact loads. Sorbent is placed in tube between piston and heat-sprayer. Rod is installed in tube for displacing the piston to thrust against inner stop. Float is made in form of cylinder with diameter exceeding outer diameter of tube and with cylindrical projection on lower end getting into upper end of tube and connected with the latter by cable hanger and by means of pins breakable at impact loads. EFFECT: simplified process of sorbent bringing under ice cover, enlarged contact of sorbent with contaminants, reduced time taken for operation. 2 dwg
