FIELD: electronic industry. SUBSTANCE: dry agglomerated yttrium hydroxysulfide powder is ground, poured with water, stirred, settled and fraction with particle size 4.0 < r < 9.0 mcm is separated by Stokes' method. Selected fraction is dried, roasted and applied on backing. 7% Solution of polyvinyl alcohol is used as a binding agent. Backing is irradiated by electrons with density 24 keV and at flow density 1.5 x 1017 cm-2. Radiation stability of luminophore is increased by 1.5-2 times at retained resolution capacity 20-22 lines/mm. Method does not use acids. Invention can be used in making cathode-ray tubes screens of color television and display sets. EFFECT: improved and simplified method of preparing, improved ecology. 1 dwg, 2 tbl
