FIELD: powder metallurgy, particularly, production of white radiation-resistant light-reflecting coatings, particularly, production of pigment based on zirconium dioxide used as one of components of heat-regulating coatings of space vehicles. SUBSTANCE: method consists in pigment grinding, modification, mixing and heat treatment. In so doing, ground agglomerated powder of pigment is additionally sifted and, selected for modification is fraction with particles sizing 100-260 mcm and corresponding to minimal value of integral absorption coefficient of solar radiation (as0) of nonmodified pigment and minimal value of its increment (Δ as) after radiation.
