FIELD: search for oil, gas and gas condensate fields. SUBSTANCE: peculiarities of formation of groups of fields of hydrocarbons of large and small areas are taken into account by way of determination of fractional dimensionality D of their lateral strikes Fractional form of prospected lateral strikes of hydrocarbon fields is manifested in fractional properties of their outlines. Area F confined inside outline fractionally depends on length of outline (perimeter) U:F=F = Fo•UE, where index E is tied up with fractional dimensionality of outline by relation E=2/E = 2/De and correspondingly with fractional dimensionality Ds= De+1+1 of surface of field. Analyzing dependence F(U) one brings to light magnitudes of critical values of area and outline of field of transient type, from small to large fields, which then are united by common outline on the map in groups of fields of transient type located nearby and summary area of fields of all types is computed within bounds of each common outline. After this summary area is compared with average area of large hydrocarbon field characteristic of surveyed territory. In case of deficit of area section of territory within bounds of common outline of group of fields of transient type on map does not occupied by fields is considered promising. Area of presumed field is evaluated by value greater than value of determined deficit of areas. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency of prediction of oil-and- gas-bearing capacity of prospected area by selection of optimal variant of points of sinking of search and prospecting holes. 2 dwg
