FIELD: short-circuit protective gear for DC and ac supply mains. SUBSTANCE: method involves measurement of input and output currents and their conversion into secondary signals by means of sensors, shaping of first information parameter proportional to geometric sum of currents at all connections, and generation of command for disconnection of section under protection. Second information parameter proportional to difference between geometric sums of input and output currents as well as third information parameter presenting first-to-second parameter ratio are generated in addition; command for disconnection of section under protection is generated in case third information parameter rises above preset operating threshold of protective gear.
