FIELD: medical equipment. SUBSTANCE: apparatus for protecting personnel and patients from adverse effects of radiation associated with operation of portable radio telephones has substrate of dielectric material and applicators made in the form of planar geometric figures arranged at one side of substrate, casing, permanent magnet which is positioned with its N pole on other side of substrate made in the form of circle. Applicators are formed as regular six-or eight-beam stars of magnetic or nonmagnetic material, respectively, and positioned layer by layer one above the other. Stars are isolated one from the other. Star of magnetic material is positioned above star of nonmagnetic material, with star axes being aligned one with respect to the other. Sizes of stars are decreasing at constant pitch the less is distance from star to substrate. Number n of stars is selected from condition: 4<n<12. Permanent magnet is adapted for localizing magnetic flux toward substrate. Sizes of permanent magnet are comparable to that of substrate. The latter is positioned in casing which may be arranged on radio telephone. Permanent magnet may be made in the form of electromagnet with bowl-shaped core and winding positioned within core, or in the form of set of plated permanent magnets.
