FIELD: railway transport. SUBSTANCE: video camera is installed on vehicle to keep image of contact wire within the limits of field of lens. Set of templates of contour images of contact wire for different staggers is prepared. Image of contact wire in focal wire in focal plane of lens is fixed. Then obtained contour image of contact wire is compared with set of contact wire contour templates by successively placing the templates onto contour image of wires and counting the number of coinciding in code separated cells of contour image and template. Stagger of contact wire is determined by number of template for which difference in numbers is minimum. EFFECT: simplified measurement of contact wire stagger, improved noise immunity in process of measuring. 2 cl, 8 dwg
