FIELD: non-ferrous metallurgy, more particularly processing of titanium-containing slag. SUBSTANCE: method comprises leaching titanium slag with nitric acid in two stages. In first stage treatment is carried out at temperatures from 70 to 95 C to give solid titanium-containing sediment. In second stage this sediment is processed wit caustic alkali solution at temperatures from 60 to 90 C to give liquid glass and product enriched in titanium dioxide. Sediment is treated with alkali solution at Na2O:SiO2 ratio of 0.25-1.0. Method allows one to attain high degree of recovery of titanium dioxide and concentration thereof in the resulting product. In addition, silica is further recovered from slag to give liquid glass useful for industrial purposes. EFFECT: more efficient processing method. 2 cl, 1 tbl
