FIELD: identification of person. SUBSTANCE: method involves placing analyzed part of body bearing pattern of skin lines to be scanned onto convex base transparent to scanning rays, scanning the analyzed part of body by scanning beam coming from radiation source through convex base, and recording reflected beam by means of detector. When analyzed part of body comes in contact with convex base, force is built up for displacing base relative to fixed support to ensure at least full displacement of analyzed part of body it carries relative to scanning rays. Device implementing proposed method has fixed support 1, convex base 2 transparent to scanning rays, source 5, and radiation detector 6. Base is made in the form of cylinder for rotating about axis 3 to turn through angle ensuring at least complete displacement of analyzed part of body it carries relative to radiant scanning flux.
