FIELD: physics, signalling.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to fingerprint analysis, in particular to methods of creating reference lists using a fingerprint database, as well as methods of forming such databases, and can be used in automatic fingerprint information search systems. When creating a reference list of marks, a request print compared with a mark from an array of marks and the match index of the request print with the mark is determined from the comparison results. The mark is compared with each print from an array of prints and the match index of the mark with the print is determined from the comparison results. A list of high matching indices of the mark with prints which includes a specific number of higher matching indices of the mark with the prints is created. The decision to include the mark into the reference list of marks is made if the said match index of the request print with the mark exceeds the least of the match indices of the mark with the prints from the said list of high indices.
EFFECT: shortening of the reference list while providing given search reliability and excluding the effect of the human factor on the reference list.
