FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: method involves measuring bioelectromagnetic response indices in matched symmetry points on the face skin relative to vertical face symmetry axis having projections upon the area of chin, supraorbital and suborbital foramen giving exits for the trigeminal nerve and projection upon the temporal artery area above the superior pole of the ear concha. Then, the temporomandibular articulations are subjected to functional loading and measurements are taken once more. Functional state coefficient of soft tissues surrounding the jaws is calculated from a formula K= (1-V1/V2)x100% when V1 <V2, and K=(1-V2/V1)x100% when V2 <V1, where K is the value of the functional state coefficient of soft tissues surrounding the jaws, V1=Z1*/Z1, V2=Z2*, where Z1,Z2 are the arithmetic mean values of bioelectromagnetic response indices in points under study on the right and left face side before and after functional loading applied to articulations. The value of K being from 15% to 30%, functional state of tissues is evaluated as compensated one. The value of K being from 0 to 15% and greater than 30%, functional state of tissues is evaluated as subcompensated one. EFFECT: wide range of diagnostic applications; enabled temporomandibular pathology diagnosis.
