FIELD: chemical industry, more particularly new sodium titanate compounds intended for use as ionite for strontium. SUBSTANCE: sodium titanate has partially crystalline laminated structure with interplanar space of 8-9.9 A. Specific surface is 25-200 mg/g. Width of refraction maximum (001) on half of peak height is 2-4.5?. Sodium titanate-based composite ionite comprises 40-95 wt % of sodium titanate and 5-60 wt % of binder. Sodium titanate is prepared by hydrothermal treatment of sodium titanate gel resulting from boiling and condensation and at 150-170 C in the presence of sodium hydroxide for 1.5 hours.
