FIELD: oil and gas production. SUBSTANCE: suppressing sulfate-reducing bacteria in oil formation is preceded by determining in each well active biocenosis zone and volume of required bactericide agent. The latter is then injected in volume equal to volume of active biocenosis zone into formation through formation pressure-maintenance system. After injection, operation of injection wells is consecutively stopped for a period of time required for complete suppression of vital activity of microorganisms. EFFECT: increased bacteria suppression efficiency with lower concentrations of bactericide. 1 tbl
