FIELD: chemical engineering. SUBSTANCE: the modular system for demineralization of aqueous solutions has a great number of portable modular units for demineralization of liquids. Each modular unit is encapsulated and has a cathode near the first end of the modular unit and an anode near the opposite end of the modular unit, as well as a great number of alternating dilution and concentration compartments. The dilution and concentration compartments are confined with the aid of anion - and cation-permeable membranes, and ion-exchange material is placed inside the dilution compartments. The system has a pipe-line to pass the second liquid through the concentration compartments for receiving the ions from the first liquid, means for feeding of electrolyte to the cathode and anode, and a means for receiving the cleaned liquid from the dilution compartments.
