FIELD: chemical industry. SUBSTANCE: dry carnallite is loaded into apparatus of boiling layer. Crude synthetic carnallite and carnallite suspension in magnesium chloride saturated solution are fed in boiling layer simultaneously. Ratio liquid : solid in suspension = 1.0-5.0. Carnallite content in flow of material feeding for drying is maintained in the range 50-95 wt. -% as measured for dry matter. Return solutions of carnallite-producing plants are used as the source of magnesium chloride saturated solution. Drying is carried out at 130-160 C at the rate of gases in layer up to 3 m/s. Partially dehydrated product with decreased particle size of fraction less 1 mm is obtained. Invention can be used in production of magnesium by electrolysis, in production of fertilizers, in the work of oil beds.
