FIELD: mining industry. SUBSTANCE: invention can be employed in coal mines while driving development workings in very thick coal seams. Mechanical and hydraulic driving of development workings is carried out by two faces, upper and lower, displaced over thickness of seam and spaced apart along development. Bolting is set in roof and sides of upper face and cut coal of lower face is removed by means of flow of pulp from upper face and is directed to coal dewatering complex located in close proximity to both faces at which coal is extracted from pulp and water is accumulated in amount sufficient for its subsequent feed by pumps into upper face of working. EFFECT: increased tempo of driving of development workings, reduced loss of coal in pillars. 1 dwg
