FIELD: mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: hydraulic cylinder is designed for shifting working member from one position to the other with locking the rod in position. Hydraulic cylinder has housing with cover, piston with rod, lock found in cover and consisting of two members installed for displacement in plane square to axis of rod, and lock drive with spring-loaded piston. Lock drive is furnished with additional spring-loaded piston. Each member of lock is made in form of rocker installed on spherical support and spring-loaded at ends. Surface engaging with rod in each member of lock is made in form of part of cylindrical surface with faces at angle of 11.0-12.5 deg to plane perpendicular to rod axis. Each piston of lock drive has cylindrical and conical sections, being installed for engagement through these sections with ends of members. EFFECT: increased loading capacity of hydraulic cylinder and preservation of its serviceability at short0time effort on rod exceeding locking force. 3 dwg
