FIELD: optics. SUBSTANCE: invention is used in optical communication lines with integration of lengths of waves, for tuning of length of radiation wave in cavity resonator of laser or for reconstruction of form of pulses in system of pulse optical communication. Gear has substrate made of photoelastic material with birefringence on which first and second stages of rotation of polarization plane are formed which include at least one waveguide coupling two stages and carrying one polarizer composed of polarization coupling element with non-propagating wave, at least one waveguide located behind second stage carrying polarization-selective element. One of stages has fixture to generate surface acoustic wave. Process of manufacture of gear includes diffusion of metal into substrate to form acoustic waveguide, formation of polarization-optical elements by way of photolithographic deposition and subsequent diffusion of second metal into substrate proper, formation of electroacoustic converter carrying electrodes of interdigitated structure inside acoustic waveguides by way of photolithographic deposition of third metal on substrate. EFFECT: simplified approach to manufacture of gear of reduced dimensions provided with wide interval of adjustment, displaying spectral characteristics stable in time. 25 cl, 18 dwg
