FIELD: measurement technology. SUBSTANCE: proposed method consists in preliminary calibration of thermal resistor distributed in height of reservoir at indirect heating in gas medium and fully submerged in medium being checked. To reduce effect of random error, n ((n ≥ 2)) measurement of electrical resistance are conducted both before and in the course of heating process. In determination of level of medium, n ((n ≥ 2)) measurements of electrical resistance of thermal resistor are conducted before its heating and m ((m = n-1 ≥ 1)) measurements are additionally conducted in the course of its heating; energy and duration of heating, as well as time intervals between two successive measurements are similar; time from beginning of heating till moment of measurement of electrical resistance is constant at calibration and during determination of level which is calculated by definite formula.
