FACE SEALING OF ROTATING SHAFT Russian patent published in 2001 - IPC

FIELD: sealing technology, sealing of rotating shafts of centrifugal superchargers and compressors. SUBSTANCE: sealing of rotating shaft contains basic face sealing with movable contact between members of fixed and rotating units interacting by means of sealing collar. The latter is made of a band with the antifriction ring. The auxiliary slotted sealing and basic face sealing are separated by a closing chamber. The auxiliary slotted sealing is provided with, at least, two floating rings, each of which is mounted into an individual housing and is in contact with the housing via the face sealing collar. In so doing, each floating ring is suspended by springs in a radial direction. The springs are mounted inside the housing in two mutually perpendicular planes at an angle of 45? to the gravity force.
