FIELD: shipbuilding; designing trimaran icebreakers. SUBSTANCE: ship has center and side hulls. Hydraulic ice-cutting plants are arranged in fore above-water extremities of hulls. Provision is made for motion and control of width of lane and sizes of ice pieces. Center hull is provided with ice-cutting wedge whose inclined surfaces are diverging towards side hulls. At least two inter-hull hydrofoils are mounted between center and side hulls. Hulls are provided with units for saturation of water under bottoms with air. All hulls are provided with power plants including steering gears. Inter-hull hydrofoils may be secured in rotatable units located in ship's hulls for control of incidence. Ice-separating wedge of trimaran icebreaker shall be mounted in under-water portion. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency of ice breaking; possibility of creating additional lift of ship for entry on ice field; increased width of lane. 3 cl, 2 dwg
