REGULATOR OF TENSION OF FLEXIBLE MEMBER WOUND OFF DRUM (VERSIONS) Russian patent published in 2001 - IPC

FIELD: space engineering; orbital cable systems; textile and paper industries. SUBSTANCE: proposed regulator includes drum with flexible member, rocker on hinged support, rollers; two rollers are immovable and one roller is mounted on rocker arm; regulator includes also brake block mounted on other arm rocker. Flexible member embraces first immovable roller, roller fitted on rocker arm and second immovable roller. Rocker is spring-loaded at arm where foller is fitted; brake block is engageable with wheel connected with shaft of drum through step-down reducer. Spring drawing-off force is equal to double preset tension of flexible member and relationship of main sizes of regulator corresponds to the following condition: where r_max is maximum radius of flexible member off drum: R_k is wheel radius; a is length of rocker arm with roller; b is length of rocker arm with brake block; k_min is minimum sliding friction coefficient between brake block and wheel; n is reduction gear ratio and ε is permissible relative error of tension control. According to another version, weight is secured to arm of rocker where roller is fitted; mass of this weight is equal to double preset tension of flexible member.
