FIELD: measurement technology. SUBSTANCE: method can be used in automatization of test of articles having mobile parts placed in pivots, for example, pointer-type electric measurement instruments. Characteristic feature of method lies in measurement of movement of accessible point of pointer indicator under certain transfer of mobile part under action of gravitational force from one boundary position to another by turn of instrument through 180 degrees around horizontal axis. Value of axial clearance is evaluated by measured movements. Gear for implementation of method has platform 1 with horizontal rotation axle, electric motor drive of platform, electric measurement instrument, optoelectronic transducer 14 of movement of mobile part mounted for overlapping of its optical channel by pointer indicator 4. Optoelectronic transducer is fitted with mechanism for movement in direction parallel to rotation axis of mobile part that includes motor-generator 16, reduction gear 15, transmitter 20 of initial position, angle-data transmitter 19, electromagnetic clutch 18. Gear also has unit 12 for control and computation, rest 27, vibrator 26. EFFECT: diminished labor input, increased precision of measurement of axial clearance in pivots of electric measurement instruments thanks to measurement of movement of accessible point of mobile part during boundary movements of mobile part in pivots caused by gravitational force. 5 cl, 4 dwg
