FIELD: halogenation catalysts. SUBSTANCE: invention provides granulated catalyst for oxidative chlorination of ethylene into 1,2-dichloroethane prepared by special pressure-molding technique. Catalyst contains copper chloride as main component supported by alumina in the form of hollow cylindrical granules having at least three through holes, at least 40% of the pore volume being constituted by pores with radius corresponding to maximum value on porosity distribution curve. Catalyst preparation involves impregnation of alumina with copper chloride solution.
