FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a catalyst composition for the oxychlorination of ethylene to 1,2-dichloroethane comprising: support having precipitated thereon catalytically active metals containing from 2 to 8% by weight of copper, from 0.1 to 0.6 moles / kg of one or more alkali metals, from 0.08 to 0.85 moles / kg of one or more alkaline earth metals, and from 0.09 to 0.9 moles / kg Mn, the amount of each of the catalytically active metals is based on the total weight of the catalyst composition, all catalytically active metals are supported on the support as their chlorides or other water-soluble salts, substrate is a fluidizable support having a BET surface of from 80 to 220 m2/ g, and wherein the catalyst composition does not contain rare earth metals. Variant of the catalyst composition described above and variants of the methods for the oxychlorination of ethylene to produce 1,2-dichloroethane using the claimed catalyst compositions are also claimed.
EFFECT: technical result is to provide a catalyst having a good activity, good selectivity and low tendency to stickiness in fluidized bed oxychlorination reactions.
