FIELD: creation of propelling force in fluid medium. SUBSTANCE: method of creation of propelling force in fluid medium consists in setting one hydrofoil in reciprocating motion at angle of from 50 to 130 deg. relative to incident flow and angular displacement. Rate of displacement ranges from 0.1 to 12 running speed of vehicle imparted by hydrofoil; angle of attack is maintained at constant level. Propulsor used realization of this method includes at least one hydrofoil provided with drive which is articulated with this hydrofoil and is rigidly secured on vehicle; drive sets hydrofoil in reciprocating motion relative to direction of motion of fluid medium. Hydrofoil of vehicle is provided with device for control of angle of attack. EFFECT: increased propulsive coefficient of propulsor. 7 cl, 11 dwg
