METHOD FOR PIPELINE REPAIRS Russian patent published in 2001 - IPC

FIELD: construction engineering; repairing and reinforcing pipelines carrying gas or liquid. SUBSTANCE: method involves detection of damage area of pipeline, opening of pipeline, stripping of its insulation, and mechanical cleaning of affected area on pipeline surface. Filling material is introduced while in non-solidified and deformable state in defective cavities and flexible deformable gasket is attached to this area so that it embraces the pipeline. Tape is tightly wound on gasket to ensure its gasket deformation so that reinforcing sleeve is formed. Width of tape is decreasing lengthwise and wound starting from wide end which is fastened to flexible gasket. In the course of winding tape is mechanically cleaned and covered with adhesive; narrow end of tape is fixed after winding of sleeve whose thickness decreases from center to its ends. Shrink ferrule is put on sleeve and heated thereby ensuring its shrinkage, hardening of adhesive and filling material. EFFECT: improved reliability of pipeline. 4 cl, 2 dwg
