WET DUST CATCHER Russian patent published in 2001 - IPC

FIELD: equipment for cleaning dust-laden air in ventilation and aspiration systems. SUBSTANCE: dust catcher has housing 1 partially filled with liquid and equipped with gas inlet branch pipe 2 and gas outlet branch pipe 3, cleaning circuit defined by annular partition walls 4 and 5 partially dipped into liquid and forming slot-shaped channel, and drop catching circuit. Cleaning circuit is further provided with channels defined by vertical blades 8 mounted at slop-shaped channel outlet end at an angle to housing generatrix and horizontal partition walls 6 and 7. Drop catching circuit is defined by three rows of vertical blades 9 positioned at an angle to housing generatrix and arranged at two levels separated by horizontal partition wall 10. One row of blades are positioned at the first level and two rows of blades are positioned at the second level. Blades of outer row of blades are turned in the same direction as first level blades, and blades of inner row of blades are turned in opposite direction with respect to blades of first row of blades. Branch pipe 12 is vertically mounted at drop catcher outlet end concentrically to annular opening for dividing opening area in two. Branch pipe 12 has height equal to half the height of higher level blades. Catcher of such construction allows gas cleaning extent to be increased by providing turbulization and further motion of air-and-liquid flow.
