FIELD: airfield equipment. SUBSTANCE: arrester includes arresting rope connected with ropes of arrester mechanisms and command rope located in parallel with arresting rope on struts. Struts are mounted on side sections of stopway of runway; each strut includes two levers and base. The first level is mounted on axle fitted in base and is locked in vertical position by means of shear pin with lock placed in the same base; it is provided with system of blocks located on upper end of lever for carrying the command rope. The second lever is made in the form of gantry whose inner size exceeds outer size of the first lever. One end is fitted on other axle which is also located in said base and is provided with hook for locking the command rope in taut position and lever in horizontal position, ratchet wheels engageable with spring-loaded pawls fitted in the same base. Located on other end of the second lever are segments with groove and two safety pins with shear pins for locking the arresting rope. Each safety pin is connected with flexible line secured on side section of stopway. Flexible hoist limiters are located between struts along axial line of axle of the second lever evenly over width of surface of end stopway; some ends of limiters are secured on said surface, while the other, are connected with arresting rope by means of easily breakable members.
