FIELD: equipment for testing materials for strength. SUBSTANCE: specimen is made in the form of half-ring whose inner part is provided with insert of varying height. Height of said insert decreases from top to ends to which forces simulating for tensile stresses over entire thickness of pipe metal are applied. Ratio of pipe thickness (Hpipe) of specimen to height of insert (Hins) is found from relationship: = 0.2-2. The proposed invention gives possibility of forming tensile stresses over entire thickness of pipe metal, as well as possibility of regulating and creating maximum and tangential stresses in working zone of specimen, thus making test conditions become closer to operating ones.
