FIELD: firefighting method and equipment. SUBSTANCE: method involves grinding gas-powder mixture in auger-type swirler; accelerating gas powder in supersonic nozzle and directing to knock wave generated during running of supersonic flow onto conical body positioned at supersonic nozzle outlet end. Preliminarily ground fire-suppressing powder colliding with knock wave serving as penetrable barrier is dispersed into aerosol. Finely dispersed gas-aerosol mixture is formed by means of nozzles into atomized cloud or compact flow and supplied into fire zone. Apparatus has auger-type swirler, arranged at supersonic nozzle inlet end, and conical body and nozzle head which are arranged at supersonic nozzle outlet end. Apparatus may be arranged in vessel containing fire-suppressing powder, when it is employed in stationary fire-extinguishing units, and may be detached from vessel by means of flexible hoses, when apparatus is used as column mount or hand-held gun. Apparatus may be connected to hose of knapsack-type or mobile fire-extinguishers. EFFECT: increased efficiency, simplified method and construction and enhanced reliability in operation. 6 cl, 2 dwg
