FIELD: mechanical engineering; measurement technology. SUBSTANCE: proposed invention relates to checking state of piston engines by measuring parameters accounting for cylinder pressure in service. Method is based on continuous measurements at repeated accelerations under no-load, measurements of dynamic power, amplitude spectrum of dynamic power, calculating relationships between these spectra and rotational speed comparing obtained results with standard ones and dependences of changes of these values from changes of engine state and classification of engine states according to degree of their proximity; comparing amplitudes of harmonics of dynamic power spectrum multiple of overshoots of governor at starting speed of governor with standard ones characteristic of governor in good repair and values of these amplitudes at changes of governor state and classification of its states according to degree of their proximity. Fuel feed advance angle is judged by changes of form of spectra dependence from rotational speed and different faults of engine and speed governor are judged changes of amplitudes of harmonics of these spectra. Proposed expert's system includes system for recording and processing of indicator diagrams. It contains additionally dynamic power meter, inertial constant unit, spectrum analyzer algebraic adder-averager, speed characteristics recorder, turbocompressor rotor angle mark pickup rotor pulse shaper and rotational speed selector. EFFECT: simplified process of checking, reduced labor input, improved accuracy of classification at expert's estimation of state of engine is service. 9 cl, 6 dwg
