FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: method involves taking patient blood sample, which one drop is put on optical member and irradiated with impulse series emitted by therapeutic laser. Optical refraction index changes are recorded in time. Photobiological blood refraction index response time characteristic for given patient and laser radiation power at which photoresponse saturation takes place are determined. The maximum permissible therapeutic dose is calculated from a formula where Psat is the therapeutic laser radiation power at which photoresponse saturation takes place, τ is the blood refraction index photoresponse time, Neryth is the number of erythrocytes in the blood sample, neryth is the blood erythrocytes concentration in the sample, V is the patient blood volume.
