FIELD: purification of water for economical and drinking purposes, more particularly purification of natural (surface and underground) and industrial water from suspended matter and coloring agents (humus and tanning agents). SUBSTANCE: method comprises coagulation of contaminating components with aluminium oxychloride and subsequent isolation by deposition, flotation or filtration from water being purified. Water being purified is subjected to intensive turbulent motion at rate gradient of 3500-3700 c-1, and aluminium oxychloride is simultaneously fed directly to turbulent motion field into the form of 0.5-2.0 % solution, and mixture is stirred for 0.12-0.35 s. EFFECT: more efficient purification method. 2 cl, 1 tbl
