FIELD: technique for making gear wheels, namely gear cutting by means of worm milling cutter. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of working cone blank by means of rack type tool; in order to make teeth profile with minimum fluctuations relative to necessary non-involute profile along width of gear rim, moving tool along path formed by straight portions with different inclination angles relative to axis of cone blank; setting inclination angle corresponding to initial end cross section of cone gear wheel equal to interaxial angle of cylinder-cone transmission; determining inclination angles corresponding to remaining designed end cross sections according to condition that in mean level of working height of teeth with involute and non-involute profiles values of their designed thickness are the same.
