FIELD: production of siccatives, more particularly in paint and varnish industry. SUBSTANCE: siccative is prepared by saponification of flotation tar which is stillage residue from column for oxidation of fatty acids in production of synthetic fatty acids having acid number of 50-70 mg KOH/g with aqueous alkali solution at 80- 100 C. The resulting solution is treated with aqueous solution of siccativating metal salt in the presence of hydrocarbon solvent. The resulting siccative has high stability due to using flotation tar production waste. EFFECT: wider range of raw materials for production of siccatives and improved ecology of environment. 5 ex, 1 tbl
