FIELD: multifunctional materials used for forming wear-resistant coating on friction surfaces in bearings and sliding supports, guides and other components from aluminium or alloys thereof. SUBSTANCE: composite coating comprises substrate from aluminium or alloy thereof and layer of pyrolytic chromium, intermediate layer of oxidoceramics being disposed between substrate and layer of pyrolytic chromium. Thickness of pyrolytic chromium is 5-50 mcm, and that of oxidoceramic layer, is 50-30 mcm. Method of forming wear resistant coating comprises forming oxidoceramic layer from aluminium or alloy thereof using microarc treatment and pyrolysis of chromium carbide. In this case oxidoceramic layer is made on surface with porosity of 3-10%, and in case of pyrolysis, said surface is filled with chromium carbide.
