FIELD: mechanical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: method includes preliminary treatment of the surface of a part to be protected, heating the surface up to the melting temperature of a metal wire, spraying it by the main gas flow forming a jet of melted particles, introduction the powder of a filler into the jet by additional gas flow, settling the particles as a layer of required size on the surface of the detail, and mechanical working of the layer. The wire for the spraying should be made of aluminum or its alloys. After the working, the spray-coated layer is oxidized. The size of the powder particle of the filler should be 0.1-0.3 of the size of melted particles. The mass flow rate of the powder is determined by the formula Q=(0.024-0.22)VD2ρ, where Q is the mass flow rate of the filler powder, kg/min, V is the rate of wire feeding, m/min, D is the diameter of the wire, m, and ρ is the specific mass of the filler, kg/m3.
