FIELD: organic chemistry, pharmacy. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to novel derivatives of 4-oxobutanoic acid of the formula (I) 
where groups A and B are taken independently each of other among mono- or bicyclic aryl group taken among phenyl and naphthyl, cycloalkyl-group with from 5 to 8 carbon atoms, saturated heterocyclic group taken among tetrahydrofuryl-group. Groups A and B can have from 1 to 3 substitutes taken among C1- C6-alkyl group, C1- C6-alkoxy-group, halogen atom or two substitutes in common mean methylenedioxy- -group. Invention relates to also a pharmaceutical composition containing the compound of the formula (I) as an active component. The proposed new derivatives of 4-oxobutanoic acid can be used for treatment of patients with diabetes mellitus. EFFECT: new compounds indicated above, valuable medicinal properties. 4 cl, 3 tbl
