FIELD: ferrous metallurgy, more particularly steel used for reinforced casting. SUBSTANCE: described is cold-resistant modified cast steel which comprises, wt. %; carbon, 0.18-0.28; manganese, 0.60-0.90; silicon, 0.20-0.52; titanium, 0.03-0.05; aluminium, 0.03-0.06; and iron, the balance. Method comprises adding modifier consisting of calcium, silicon, aluminium, barium or rare-earth metals to liquid steel. Besides, steel comprises titanium in modifier composition or alloying composition ratios of components added to steel being as follows, wt.%: calcium, 4.1-12.0; barium, 4.0-12.0 or rare-earth metals, 8.1-30.0; aluminium, 2.0-13.0, titanium, 9.5, and silicon, the balance, at consumption of modifier or modifier and alloying composition 2.2-3.5 kg/t of liquid steel, increased impact viscosity of steel to 392 KJ/sq.m at temperature of minus 60 C, with high properties thereof.
